New York Native Kiara has our eyes and heart as she pursues her dreams of a being a multimedia artist. Coming from a Fashion background it was important that her mission and overall focus has a "bigger voice".
"I grew up through images from fashion magazine under the dryer at hair salons, grandma's photo albums from the 70's, album jackets,Rap City Tha Basement, Hype Williams, and many other artifacts which reminded me Black was powerful, creative, and beautiful. I hope my artwork protrudes that same feeling..."
We discovered her work via Instagram from her collage series which represents the culture of african hair. Her style is reminiscent of the 90s hanging out with your older cousin or in the back seat of your Auntie's Honda Civic.
